About the Blog

Kids Learning, DiscussionThis blog is about schools and the great leaders who serve them. It is about honoring them and challenging them. This blog is dedicated to the responsibilities and possibilities of instructional leadership and what that means for our teachers and children. It will focus on the great demands we place on instructional leaders in our schools and school districts, with an intentional focus on challenging the beliefs and assumptions of school principals and district leaders and empowering them to lead dramatic change in their schools. The blog will focus a great deal on systems leadership and transformational leadership, with an emphasis on building better schools and school systems that are tethered to a strong instructional core. It is designed to question and reshape our most basic understandings of what schools and school districts can be, how to root out inefficiencies in our organizational design, how to get the most out of our curriculum and instruction, how to remain innovative in our approaches, and how to ensure that all children learn and succeed. In short, this blog is designed to keep us sharp because our future demands it and because we are never going to win a revolution with a dull blade.
