Bio / Contact Info

Dan Evans Instructional LeadershipDan lives and works in one of Florida’s largest school districts, amid all of the challenges and successes that come with dedicating one’s life to children and families. This is a personal blog, not (in any way) connected to his school district and (in no way) a commentary on the people and places he has worked. In fact, Dan (now writing strangely in third person) hopes this blog allows him to step back from the labors of his work and comment on the larger themes that are emerging in schools and school districts elsewhere.

Dan is a husband and father, a former English teacher, assistant principal, and principal. He now works as the chief academic officer for his school district, where he oversees curriculum, instruction, and training for a district serving nearly 100,000 students and families. When he is not at work, Dan likes to read, ponder, and write. He is a systems thinker and true believer. He is also an ardent educational historian, mostly from reading dusty old books that most have long forgotten about. His first book was released in the summer of 2019 after many nights of putting random thoughts to paper.

He hopes his blog and book support the growth of aspiring leaders across all schools and school districts and that somehow, somewhere children and families will benefit.
